MMI At Washermanpet

Project Brief:

Washermanpet is an important transport node connected with Bus, Metro and Suburban stations with a large piece of land used for parking by CMRL. To link various modes of transport together in these 2 important places in Chennai, escalators, pedestrian pathways, skywalks and other facilities etc would be provided.

The key highlights of CMP will be:

  • Develop an Immediate Action Plan (0-2 years’ horizon) for addressing critical traffic issues.
  • Formulate transport strategy for CUMTA jurisdiction.
  • Formulate proposals for integration of all public transport systems within CUMTA jurisdiction.
  • Identify a phased program of transport investments proposals.
  • Propose project prioritization plan.

Stakeholders/Departments involved:

General public, Southern Railways, CMRL, MTC, GCC, GCTP, TNIDB, state Highways department, and other relevant stakeholders.

Current Status:

CUMTA will facilitate discussion with line departments for the implementation.
