Project Brief:

Kilambakkam bus terminal is located on the GST road (NH 45 & 49) near Vandalur with the objective of relieving the congestion within the city and for catalyzing the even distribution of urban growth.

 

CUMTA proposed to initiate a study to assess the feasibility of integrating the Kilambakkam bus terminal with the suburban railway system by connecting it with a skywalk and constructing a halt station between Vandalur and Urapakkam.

 

Opportunities for multimodal integration and issues pertaining to circulation and pedestrian movement will also be studied.

Stakeholders/Departments involved:

General public, MTC, SETC, Southern Railways, CMRL, state Highways department,Traffic Police, TNIDBand other relevant stakeholders.

Current Status:

CMDA on behalf of CUMTA floated a tender for Preparation of Feasibility Report for Integration of Suburban Railway (between Vandalur and Urapakkam railway stations) with Kilambakkam Bus Terminal through a Skywalk.”The due date for bid submission is 15.11.2022
