Subcommittees


Four subcommittees have been formed under CUMTA which will set norms, standards, guidelines, service-level benchmarks related to the topics, and provide topic-related inputs in the development of policies for urban mobility. 

1. Road Safety & Non-Motorized Transport (RS & NMT)

3. Multi-Modal Integration
4. Urban Mobility Resilience

CUMTA will act as Secretariat for these Subcommittees. The Special Officer/Member Secretary CUMTA will be the ex-officio Co-Chair of these Subcommittees.

Functions

  • Oversee and review preparation of relevant studies on Road Safety
  • Oversee progress and compliance of road safety projects/program, NMT         programs
  • Foster interagency consensus on Road Safety & NMT projects in CMA from
  • Provide inputs, promote guidelines for Road Safety Policy, NMT Policy
  • Advice on short, medium and long-term targets and oversee progress of         results for reducing the number of fatalities in CMA
  • Provide inputs to ULBs and line agencies regarding road user safety &         improvement measures.

Digital Chennai

Functions

  • Review preparation of relevant studies on Digital Chennai for CMA
  • Ensure setting up of an integrated urban mobility data platform for storage and         access of various types of mobility data
  • Foster interagency consensus on Digital aspects of Urban Mobility and oversee         development of digital solutions for urban mobility
  • Facilitate resolution of issues and challenges.
  • Operationalize Data Policy for CMA.
  • Publish analytical reports

Multi-Modal Integration

Functions

  • Identify multi modal integration projects within CMA
  • Ensure physical, fare, and service integration in transport systems.
  • Foster interagency consensus on Multi-modal integration projects, Fare         Integration etc.
  • Propose a plan for centralized traffic system to manage traffic.
  • Review of DPRs and oversee phase wise implementation with respect to multi         modal integration.
  • Introduce new pilot project like Mobility as a Service (MAAS).

Urban Mobility Resilience

Functions

  • Review preparation of disaster risk assessment studies in the CMA.
  • Monitor progress and compliance of project or program on Urban Mobility         Resilience
  • Provide inputs on planning alternate mobility arrangement during calamities and         facilitate its coordination.
  • Ensure urban mobility resilience repository is maintained under CUMTA.
  • Develop interagency coordination arrangements w.r.t resilience
  • Develop resilience standards.

Functions

  • Oversee and review preparation of relevant studies on Road Safety viz.          Chennai Road Safety Action plan.
  • Oversee progress and compliance of road safety projects/program, NMT          programs, identified under the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP) and          other relevant studies.
  • Foster interagency consensus on Road Safety from planning to implementation of projects and facilitate resolution of issues and challenges.
  • Provide guidance in road safety matters of CMA.
  • Provide inputs for State Road safety policy.
  • Review, promote and maintain safety guidelines and compliance requirements for road safety programs.
  • Recommend targets and oversee progress of results for reducing the number of fatalities in CMA.
  • Advise on short, medium and long-term safety investments and their allocation toward achieving city safety targets.
  • Provide inputs to ULBs and line agencies operating within CMA regarding road user safety & improvement measures.
  • Establish, mandate, and resource a dedicated group of road safety professionals to lead CMA’s road safety efforts.
